Our 5th Annual Kline Corbett Blood Drive Exceeds Goal, Helping To Save Lives Across Our Region

A successful community blood drive recently brought together generous donors from across the area, demonstrating the power of neighbors helping neighbors. What began with a goal of collecting 24 donations turned into an incredible show of support, resulting in 30 blood donations that will help patients in need throughout our region.

Blood donation remains one of the simplest yet most impactful ways individuals can make a difference in the lives of others. Every day, hospitals rely on donated blood to support patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatments, organ transplants, trauma care, and treatment for chronic illnesses. Because blood cannot be manufactured, volunteer donors remain the only source of this critical resource.

The blood drive was conducted in partnership with the American Red Cross, an organization that has been serving communities for more than 140 years. Founded in 1881 by Clara Barton, the organization was established after Barton witnessed firsthand the need for humanitarian aid during the Civil War and learned about the international Red Cross movement while visiting Europe. Since then, the American Red Cross has grown into one of the nation’s leading humanitarian organizations, providing disaster relief, emergency assistance, health and safety training, support for military families, and life-saving blood collection services.

Today, the American Red Cross supplies approximately 40% of the nation’s blood supply, making community blood drives an essential part of maintaining a safe and reliable inventory for hospitals and patients across the country. The need for blood is constant, and every donation helps ensure that lifesaving treatments remain available when emergencies arise.

The results of this blood drive reflect the generosity and compassion of our local community:

Blood Drive Results

    • Goal: 24 donations

    • Presenting donors: 33

    • Power Red donations: 3 (equivalent to 6 units)

    • Total collected: 30 donation

Among the highlights of the event were three first-time blood donors, individuals who chose to make their first contribution to this important cause. First-time donors play a vital role in strengthening the nation’s blood supply and helping meet the ongoing needs of patients.

Another meaningful moment came when one donor identified themselves as willing to help a patient living with sickle cell disease. Blood donations from diverse donor populations are especially important for patients with sickle cell disease, who often require ongoing transfusions and can benefit from closely matched blood types. Actions like these help improve treatment outcomes and provide hope for patients facing lifelong health challenges.

The success of the drive serves as a reminder that community impact is often created through small acts of generosity. A single blood donation can potentially help multiple patients, and when dozens of people come together to give, the collective impact can be remarkable.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and helped spread awareness about the event. Exceeding the donation goal would not have been possible without the willingness of community members to dedicate their time and effort to helping others.

As the need for blood donations continues throughout the year, events like this demonstrate how local communities can play a direct role in supporting hospitals, patients, and families when they need it most. The generosity shown by donors serves as a powerful example of what can be accomplished when people come together with a shared purpose: saving lives.
